We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.

The Core Theme for this Full Moon = Service versus Sacrifice

The natural Water/Earth polarity of this Full Moon in Pisces is particularly emphasized and amplified by the conjunction of Neptune to the Moon, in opposition to Jupiter conjunct the Sun in Virgo.

Totally at home in the infinite oceanic realms of Pisces, Neptune sitting next to the Full Moon diffuses and dissolves any obstacles to the free flow of our feelings and emotions. Hence we are invited to dive deep into these watery realms, keeping in mind that due to the nature of water, we are only likely to see vague images and silhouettes rather than anything that is clear and distinct. Pisces is the realm of illusion, delusion, intuition, imagination and dreams. Here, anything is possible as we are not limited by the concept of a three dimensional reality. In this watery realm we plant the seeds through our imagination, albeit often unconsciously, that later manifest into our daily reality. The Piscean realm allows us easy access to both the individual and collective unconscious. However, without the Virgoan skills of discernment, we can struggle to clarify who and what our intuitive perceptions are really about and where they originate from.

Without a degree of earthy grounding, the Pisces realms can easily seduce us into an infantile Neptunian womb where we surrender free will and choice, in favour of unconsciousness and lack of responsibility. Hence the association between Pisces and alcohol/drug abuse as well as co-dependency in relationships. (It is worth keeping in mind that as our porousness and sensitivity is heightened at this time, we are likely to have stronger reactions to substances during this Full Moon).

Without a healthy sense of self, the Piscean watery realms can feel like an engulfing tsunami where we find ourselves easily swamped as we embrace the role of martyr and/or victim in preference to taking responsibility for our own life. On the other hand with a well formed inner sense of self, the Piscean waters can be experienced as a magical opportunity to dance with our imagination and express expansive free flowing feelings through the creative arts, as well as through our emotions. In doing so, we enter the realms of unconditional love, compassion and our interconnection with everyone and everything. This is what we have mostly associated with the spiritual realms, but which in is in fact an intrinsic part of who we are and of our existence on this planet, particularly now in the post Uranus/Pluto square era. The opposition to the Sun in Virgo conjunct Jupiter, offers us the opportunity to ground the Piscean oceanic emotions and feelings into earthy practical compassion. With Jupiter emphasising the Virgoan qualities of efficiency and synthesis through meaningful service rather than sacrifice, we are invited to turn unconditional love into practical action for the benefit of all.

Meanwhile, Venus Retrograde has made her way back within 2’ of Mars in Leo, which is in quincunx to Pluto in Capricorn. Once more we are offered a rich opportunity to take heart based action to transmute structures within our own lives and in the greater collective that are not authentic. These include: our jobs, family structures, education, physical health, finances, relationships, friendships, home etc.

Some questions we might consider at this time:

  1. Where in my life am I living an ‘unconscious life’? Why am I choosing to do so? How is it benefiting me? What is it stopping me from experiencing?
  2. Where in my life do I choose to be a victim/martyr? Why have I chosen to do so? What are the benefits? What are the losses?
  3. Where in my life am I expressing myself in a creative manner?
  4. Do I love myself unconditionally? Do I love others unconditionally? If not, what fears stop me from doing so? What would help me to open up fully? What might be the benefits of doing so for my emotional, physical and mental wellbeing?
  5. Where am I deluding myself about myself?
  6. If I were to measure my general compassion towards everyone on a scale of 1 – 10, where is it on average?
  7. How might I be of greater meaningful service in the world at this time

Some Tools to work with during this Full Moon time and throughout the rest of the month:

  1. Daydreaming, preferably by water – ocean, lakes, rivers etc.
  2. Soaking in the bath or in the ocean
  3. Listening to music
  4. Keeping a dream journal
  5. Expressing emotions that arise at this time through art, writing, playing music…
  6. Dancing
  7. Allowing tears to flow

On a Global Level:
One of the biggest issues that is manifesting in the world at the moment is the displacement of people around the globe due to conflicts in their homeland. The numbers are staggering; with recent polls showing up to 60 million refugees. Many of these are children. Unlike the waves of emigration in the past, refugees are not leaving out of choice. They are fleeing for their lives with nothing aside from the clothes they are wearing. The choice arises for other countries to open their arms with love and offer food, clothing and shelter or to put up illusory walls, fences and barricades in fear. This Full moon in Pisces reminds us that we are all one and that the plight and pain of our neighbour is also ours. In helping them, we help ourselves. It also reminds us that the Earth does not belong to us and hence territorial borders are not real.

There have been several fires and explosions recently, two of which resulted in hundreds of deaths in China. With Mars in Leo within orb of a trine to Uranus in Aries, it seems to me that we are faced with choices re the reality of a world where people’s homes are located next to exceedingly dangerous toxic chemicals. The core question arises as to the purpose of the chemicals in the first place and whether our priority is financial gain or the safety of people’s lives.

On the other hand it was very heartening to witness the courage of the two young men, who disarmed a terrorist on a French train a few days ago, saving the lives of many people. A wonderful expression of the dynamic courage of Mars in Leo, together with the desire to be of service, as exemplified by Jupiter in Virgo.

Who is most likely to resonate with these energies?
If your Sun, Moon and/or angles are between 4’ and 8’ Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and/or Sagittarius you are more likely to resonate with these Full Moon energies. If your Sun, Moon and/or angles are between 12’ and 13’ Leo and/or Capricorn you are likely to particularly resonate with the Venus/Mars in Leo themes.

I’ll leave you with this great quote by Rabindranath Tagore: “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy”.
