Navigating the Solar Eclipse in Leo on Aug 21st 2017 with Margaret Gray MSW D. Psych. Astrology

Heart or Ego? Which will you choose?

‘Let your heart be as big as it can possibly be.’
― Swami Chetanananda

Solar Eclipses occur when the Earth, Moon and Sun are lined up in the heavens, so that from our perspective on Earth, the Moon blocks out the light of the Sun. Countries that are in the direct line of the Eclipse are more likely to resonate with the Eclipse themes. Similarly – if your Sun, Moon or Angles are within 3’or 4’ of the Eclipse degree, which in this case is 28’ Leo 52.

This is the last Eclipse of 2017 and can only be seen as a Total Eclipse across the middle of the USA. Although the effect of Eclipses is stronger in the geographic area where it is exact, all of us will feel these powerful collective energies to some degree!

Solar Eclipses symbolically represent the brief moment of darkness that comes just before an important aspect of ourselves comes to light. In that instant, our unconscious lunar emotions surface, obscuring our conscious solar light, thereby leaving us in darkness. All we can do is trust that something as yet unknown is emerging into light and consciousness, ready to be birthed in the weeks and months ahead. The placement of the Eclipse in our Birth Chart by Sign, House and Aspect offers us some helpful information as to what this is[i]. Similarly in the Composite Chart for Relationships – for more information on this feel free to peruse

Over the centuries the dimming of the light of the Sun has been viewed with some trepidation in many parts of the world. On a primal level, our survival feels understandably threatened when the light of the Sun is obscured. Hence, although Solar Eclipses always occur at the time of a New Moon – which is all about birth, the Eclipse demands that we experience total darkness, before the birth can take place.

Key Planetary Aspects
The key aspect to this Eclipse is the exact trine to Uranus in Aries. There is also an almost exact quincunx to Chiron in Pisces (1’orb) and the North Node in Leo is within 5’ of the Eclipse. Plus of course, Mercury has recently gone Retrograde in Virgo!

Key Themes for this Eclipse:

  1. An invitation to open our hearts wide.
  2. A desire to take spontaneous genuine action in a new direction – check where the Eclipse lands in your chart to see which area of life this is more likely to happen for you!
  3. Feistiness, impatience and frustration!
  4. Absolute honesty and directness,
  5. Healing old wounds to do with our individuality (this may involve releasing some old pain!)
  6. Reconnecting to heartfelt joy and fun,
  7. Confusion with detail – careful with those texts!
  8. Feeling ungrounded and struggling dealing with mundane daily tasks! (The only earth in the sky is Pluto in Capricorn) Our bodies may play up a bit in an effort to draw our attention so that we can remain centered in the physical realm,
  9. Compassion may feel easier than empathy right now!
  10. Our nervous system may feel in overdrive so our sleep patterns may be disturbed.

Some things to keep in mind!

Eclipses repeat themselves approx. every 19 years and there were Solar Eclipses at this same degree in 1945, 1963 and 1999. It may be helpful to revisit these times in your life, (or to explore what was going on in your family at these times, if you were not born yet), to see if any significant themes come to light, which may resurface to be worked through in a new way with this Eclipse.

According to Dr. Bernadette Brady this Eclipse belongs to Saros Series 1 North. This is her description of the core theme:

“Unexpected events involving friends or groups place a great deal of pressure on personal relationships. These relationship issues may loom large as the eclipse affects the chart. The individual would be wise not to make any hasty decisions since information is distorted and possibly false. The eclipse also has an essence of tiredness attached to it” – Dr. Bernadette Brady ‘The Eagle and the Lark’

The Sabian symbol for this Eclipse is: ‘A Mermaid emerges from the ocean waves ready for rebirth in human form’. – Lynda Hill
This could be described as an emergence of something within ourselves from the deep oceanic emotional realms, which we are ready to manifest on the planet. It’s well worth keeping a note of your dreams at this time!

Some tools that may help with the Eclipse energies:

  1. Spending time on solid ground in nature with trees, plants and flowers.
  2. Having fun with friends and loved ones.
  3. Listening to your heart and taking a risk if it’s heart centered
  4. Being courageous for yourself and others.
  5. Trying to focus on excitement rather than fear!
  6. Envisioning the most expansive future for yourself and your loved ones
  7. Trusting that the light will come out again even brighter, in whatever part of your chart the Eclipse is landing in.
  8. Self comforting! Anxiety levels may feel higher than usual, particularly if you have a Moon/Uranus aspect in your chart. With Moon/Pluto there may be more fear and with Moon/Neptune, sadness and/or addictions may come to the forefront. Fear may also be strong if you have a natal Saturn/Pluto aspect.

Self soothing is very helpful right now in the manner of your Moon Element and sign. For Fire Moons focusing on the excitement of the Eclipse can be helpful, as well as doing exercise. Moon in Earth may find it comforting to be somewhere beautiful in nature, Moon in Air is likely to enjoy reading blogs on the Eclipse and spending some time with friends, whilst Moon in Water is more likely to be comforted by time near a body of water.

If your Sun, Moon and/or angles are at the end of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Aries, Pisces and/or Scorpio or at the start of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and/or Sagittarius, you are more likely to resonate with the above themes.

Navigating the Lunar Eclipse on Aug 7th 2017 – with Margaret Gray

‘But feelings can’t be ignored, no matter how unjust or ungrateful they seem.’
― Anne Frank

The Planetary Configurations:

Mars in Leo is conjunct the Sun and opposite the Moon (4’orb).There is also a trine/sextile from Jupiter to the Moon/Sun (2’ orb). This Eclipse is also part of ann intense Yod in the sky, with the Sun as the apex planet and the Moon as the release point! The quincunx is from the Sun to Pluto (2’ orb) on one side and to Neptune (2’ orb) on the other!

Why do Eclipses matter?

There are two Eclipse seasons a year – one in Oct/Nov and one in July/Aug. The Eclipse season lasts from a few weeks before the first Eclipse, until a week or so after the last Eclipse. However, the effects of the Eclipses last for approx. 6 months after each Eclipse.

Lunar Eclipses are a more intense Full Moon – with a twist! During a Full Moon the light of the Sun fully illuminates the Moon. How this translates in our daily life, is that emotions that are usually under the surface, become more visible as they enter our consciousness. Hence we talk about ‘lunacy’ during a Full Moon, which describes a sense of feeling overtaken and overwhelmed by our emotions.

However, the twist with the Eclipse is that although emotions come to the surface, they are temporarily covered over or eclipsed. So we are aware that they are there, but unlike a non-eclipsed Full Moon, we are not conscious of what they are about. As this is happening to all of us at the same time, it can feel like a power surge of emotions, without the consciousness to make sense of what they are and hence how to process them.

Depending on where this Eclipse falls in your natal chart and which planets – if any – are activated, this will feel more or less personally intense for you. However, as it is a global occurrence, anyone who is sensitive and/or has a very watery chart is likely to reverberate strongly with these energies, even if they are not personal to your own chart. Hence, it’s very important to stay as centered as possible in your own emotions and body and to keep clearing out other people’s energies and emotions!

Some Key Themes to look out for with this Lunar Eclipse:

1. A strong drive to take urgent action in whatever area of life the Sun/Mars/North Node in Leo falls in your natal chart. Heart centered action can work well, but if it’s based on ego, it is likely to be reflected back in an enhanced way over the next few months.
2. This is an ideal time to let go of old emotional baggage – resentments, fears, regrets, shame, guilt, annoyances, frustrations…
3. Parental issues may come to the surface to be resolved and released so that we can move forward lighter and easier.
4. There may be challenges between the wellbeing of the group/tribe/collective versus ‘Me, Myself and I’! This could manifest via challenges between family and community needs, versus personal needs and desires.
5. With Mercury in shadow and going Retrograde on Aug 13th it’s well worth paying additional attention to all forms of communication, particularly when it entails formal documents!
This Eclipse is likely to feel particularly powerful if your Sun, Moon and/or angles are between 11’ and 16’ Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio. Also if you are part of the generation with the Nodal axis in Leo/Aquarius as the theme of self/individuality/ego, versus others/idealism/helping the collective, is a key theme in your life journey.

Some suggested tools for this Lunar Eclipse:

1. Time in nature can really help to stay grounded and get some sleep and rest at this time. Because this Eclipse is in Air and Fire, it has a high speed, detached quality about it, which is very removed from the natural and physical realms of Earth and our body. This can feel a bit harsh and edgy on our nervous system
2. Meditation and breathing exercises can help to stay centered and as calm as possible amidst any potential chaos around us.
3. It’s well worth taking nothing personally!! Keep in mind that everyone’s emotions are surfacing at the same time. Kindness, compassion, patience and tolerance will go a long way towards preventing accidents and stressful encounters.
4. Discernment as to where and if action is needed, and how to take it in a grounded and loving manner is useful right now.
5. Forgiveness for self and others will bear great fruits in the months to come. The Hawaiian practice of Ho’oponopono is one of several healing forgiveness practices

The New Moon in Leo on July 23rd 2017 – What does this mean for YOU? – Margaret Gray MSW, D. Psycho. Astrology

‘And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.’
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Key Planetary Energies today:

This New Moon in fiery Leo is conjunct Mars, (1’ orb) square Uranus in Aries, (2’ orb) and trine Chiron in Pisces (2’ orb). Elsewhere in the sky, Jupiter in Libra trines Venus in Gemini (5’ orb) and squares Pluto in Capricorn (2’ orb). Meanwhile Saturn in Sagittarius trines Mercury and the North Node in Leo (4’ and 2’ orb)

So how is all of this likely to affect you?

With 6 planets in Fire signs and 4 of them in Leo + the North Node, not to mention the Sun conjunct Mars, there is definitely a lot of dynamic action oriented energy in the sky!!

New Moons inspire us to make a new start in the area of life where the New Moon lands in our birth chart. The seeds we plant with the New Moon today are likely to gain momentum on the 26th and 27th when the Sun makes an exact conjunction to Mars once again – this time in Leo! These two have been travelling close together for the past week and won’t really separate until early August. When they were in Cancer last week their focus was more on family dynamics. Now that they are in individualistic Leo, the focus has shifted onto us as individuals. We have some choice as to how we manifest this dynamic duo. At its most limited the Sun/Mars conjunction can express itself in an ego-centered, prideful entitled and arrogant manner. However, when the Leo energy comes from the heart then its expansive expression exudes love, generosity and playfulness.

The planetary aspects to this full moon challenge us to be brutally honest with ourselves and look at where our intentions are coming from, as the core intention at the root of our actions is what impacts everyone around us. Once we are clear on whether our intentions are ego or heart based, we can plan the actions we wish to take in the month ahead in whatever area of life the New Moon lands in our chart.

Spontaneous playfulness is very helpful with this New Moon. For those of us who are in the midst of summer right now, this is a wonderful day to do something action oriented that is new, courageous and adventurous. Pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zone is likely to produce unexpected satisfaction.

Some questions to consider during this New Moon:
1. What is calling me right now to take action in my life? What needs to change?
2. In the balance between ego and heart – which plays a bigger part in my life? (No judgement!) Am I happy with this? If not – what can I do right now to change it?
3. Where and why am I disconnected from pleasure?

The Full Moon in Capricorn on July 9th 2017 with Margaret Gray

“…for there are two distinct sorts of ideas, those that proceed from the head and those that emanate from the heart.”
― Alexandre Dumas

Planetary Configurations:

This Full Moon in Capricorn is conjunct Pluto (1’orb) and opposite Mars (5’ orb). It also squares Jupiter in Libra (3’ orb) and sextiles Neptune in Pisces (3’ orb). Elsewhere, Saturn in Sagittarius trines/sextiles the Nodes in Leo/Aquarius (2’ orb), as well as trining Uranus in Aries (6’ orb). Jupiter in Libra is still quincunx Neptune in Pisces and Mercury in Leo sextiles Venus in Gemini (1’ orb).

Key Themes to Look out for today:

Pretty much everything is activated in the sky with this Full Moon, so most of us are likely to resonate with at least some of the energies!

The key theme for this Full Moon is integration and transformation in an attempt to find balance, both within ourselves and in the world around us.

The integration this Full Moon invites us to accomplish is between: creative flow and boundaries, connection and self-sufficiency, flexibility and rules, nurturing and authority, emotions and restraint, softness and tenacity. Which side do we tend to lean towards? How might you choose to re-balance this with the Full Moon?
Notice where the Full Moon lands in your birth chart to see which areas of your life can most benefit from integration today.

With the Sun in the natural sign of the Moon, compassion and kindness are emphasized, as well as the importance of family and familiarity. We are more likely to be drawn to comfort and security today, rather than adventure. The Moon on the other hand is in the earthy sign of Capricorn, which by nature is somewhat guarded in displaying emotions. With Pluto beside it, this natural reticence is highlighted even more and we may find ourselves seeking privacy, as we ruminate over old emotions that are past their sell by date. This is an ideal time to shed them with kindness and compassion for ourselves and others. Some old fears and obsessions may also come to the surface to be released.
Digging into our resource box for tools that offer emotional comfort and soothing can help. At this time these may include: time with good friends, cooking a nice meal, doing something creative, journaling, watching a familiar movie, reading an inspirational book, clearing out closets…

If your Sun, Moon or angles are between 15’ and 24’ Capricorn, Cancer, Libra and/or Aries you will probably feel these energies more strongly.

The SOLSTICE on June 20th/21st + THE NEW MOON in CANCER on June 23rd/24th

‘Embrace love and compassion with all your spirit. Understand that they never hurt or offend, they just heal and empower.’― Steve Maraboli

This week offers us two excellent astrological opportunities to plant fresh seeds for new beginnings. The first event is the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere/Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. This important Astrological crossroads signifies a change in seasons – from spring to summer or from autumn to winter.

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, this is our longest day of the year and here in Ireland it is unlikely to get dark until past 10.30pm. On this day we celebrate the warmth and brightness of the Sun and the vibrancy and stimulation of life around us. It’s a time to play and be light, as we release any heaviness we carried over from the spring and winter months. This is our time to blossom as we enjoy more time outdoors in nature. In the Southern Hemisphere it is a time to draw in and embrace the self-learning that takes place when there are minimal external distractions. In both hemispheres, the Solstice marks a time to engage with something new.

Solstice Planetary Configurations

Solstice brings a superior conjunction between Mercury and the Sun in Cancer. Mercury is also sextile Uranus in Aries, opposite Saturn in Sagittarius and square Chiron in Pisces. Meanwhile Venus in Taurus (conjunct the Moon), is sextile Neptune in Pisces and trine Pluto in Capricorn. Not forgetting the ongoing quincunx between Jupiter in Libra and Neptune in Pisces, square Pluto in Capricorn! Additionally Saturn in Sagittarius trines the North Node in Leo/sextiles the South Node in Aquarius!

How is this likely to be relevant in our lives?

Issues to do with communication are likely to be at the forefront today, as we prepare to move from an intellectual perspective, to a more feeling based one. Although there may be some impatience and/or anxiety around, this is an ideal opportunity to heal some old family wounds. Self-compassion and the willingness to ‘listen’ in new ways, both to our own heart and to the heart of others is key! This Solstice invites us to reconcile the subtle difference between unconditional love and ‘fairness’. What do ‘fairness’ and ‘unconditional love’ mean to us? Can we still love someone or something that is not 100% fair? At what point does that stop being feasible for us? Where is this highlighted in our lives right now? (The position of Transiting Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto in your chart will show where this is most active for you right now!)

This Solstice invites us to be creative and passionate. It’s the perfect day to be surrounded by beauty and sensual pleasures – visit an art gallery, go for a walk somewhere beautiful, enjoy a massage, cook or go out for a fabulous meal, enjoy some sensuality with your intimate other, relax in a candlelit aromatic bath…

Mostly – today is a reminder to keep our heart open, in spite of the horrors taking place in the world around us. They are only likely to stop when all our hearts are open wide. This can and may translate into each of us doing one small action in this new Solstice cycle on a daily or weekly or monthly basis, that will contribute in some way to the community we live in.

Solstice is followed two days later by:

The New Moon in Cancer, which invites us to plant the seeds for the month ahead.

Planetary Configurations:

This New Moon is conjunct Mercury and square Chiron in Pisces. Meanwhile Mars which is also in Cancer, squares Jupiter in Libra. Many of the Solstice configurations from a couple of days ago continue, including Jupiter in Libra quincunx Neptune in Pisces, square Pluto in Capricorn. The Venus in Taurus trine Pluto in Capricorn becomes exact today!

How is this likely to be relevant in our lives?

Many of the Solstice themes continue to reverberate. However, the seeds that are being planted for this new moon are about self-nurturing, family and creativity. This is an ideal time to explore what family means to us and the role creativity plays or not, in our lives.

Last weekend I was at the beautiful ‘celebration’ of the life of an amazing woman who passed away recently. One of the speakers shared how one of the many gifts that stayed with her from her college lecturer was her emphasis on the importance of the imagination in our lives.

Too often we only associate the imagination with being an artist or writer or poet. Yet connecting with our imagination is fundamental in creating the life we want and unless we engage consciously with this amazing gift, we are at risk of creating a life we don’t want! A couple of days before and after the New Moon are a particularly powerful time to ‘imagine’ what we want in our life. Where do we want to create a home if we have not done so already? Do we enjoy being with the person/people we are currently sharing our home with? If not, who would we like to share our home with? Who and what do we want to be surrounded by? Who is our family and our tribe?

Passion is also highlighted today. Passion for ourselves, passion for life and passion for those we love. This is not a day for sitting on the fence! Life is too short! Over the past week the horrific fires in the UK and Portugal, as well as the conflicts around the world, were a sharp reminder that our time on this planet and the time of our loved ones, could easily end in the next hour, minute or second!
If you love someone – this is the time to tell them and mostly show them through your behaviour. Power games are not love, fear is not love, taking a chance is love and being honest and vulnerable is love.

Happy Solstice and Happy New Moon!
Margaret Gray June 2017

The Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 9th 2017 with Margaret Gray

‘Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.’ ― Isaac Asimov

What’s going on Astrologically?

Neptune in Pisces is the Apex of a tsquare to The New Moon conjunct Saturn opposite the Sun in Gemini. Plus, the Sun in Gemini is exactly quincunx Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Libra is going stationary direct today! Not to mention a second Tsquare with Apex Chiron in Pisces, squaring Saturn in Sagittarius and Mars in Cancer + a sextile between Venus in Taurus and Mars in Cancer!! All in one day!!

Why does a Full Moon Matter?

The Full Moon is our monthly opportunity to face and clear out any emotional debris that comes to the surface from our unconscious. The issues that surface are connected to the area of our natal chart that the Full Moon lands in! For e.g. if it lands in our 11th House, it is related to the tribal aspect of our life including family, friends, community etc.! However, as the Full Moon is also a collective global experience, we are all impacted to a greater or lesser degree by the core themes of each Full Moon!

Key Themes to Look out for today:

Deep-set belief systems and ways of thinking are likely to be challenged by this Full Moon – particularly beliefs that are rigid and lacking in unconditional love for our fellow humans. This is a good time to question how these beliefs have led to the construction of our core life foundations – our home, family situation, relationships, health, community, work….Moving forward with fairness in the weeks and months ahead is one of the key themes of this Full Moon. Right now healing is likely to come from putting the needs of others before our own, regardless of whether we agree or disagree with them intellectually! Although it sounds cliché and ‘new agey’ – reaching out to others with love is likely to plant some beautiful seeds in all our relationships in the months to come!

Some Suggestions for this Full Moon

1. Making a list of your core beliefs and writing next to it the structures that you have created as a result in your life – are these structures expansive and joyful or restrictive and lacking in joy?
2. Where are you the most rigid in our beliefs? What would they look and feel like if you were to soften those beliefs? How might your life change?

Feel free to share! – Margaret Gray June 2017

The New Moon is in Gemini tomorrow May 25th & Venus is square Pluto! – What might this mean for YOU?  – Margaret Gray MSW, D. Psycho.

‘Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.’
― Brené Brown

Key Planetary Energies today:

There are two key sets of energies in the sky today. One is the New Moon in Gemini, which doesn’t make exact aspects to anything else! The other is the exact square between Venus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn! Meanwhile Jupiter Rx is still quincunx Neptune in Pisces!

So how is all of this likely to affect you?

On the one hand the New Moon in Gemini has a light-hearted, ‘interested in everything’,‘time to chat and socialize with friends’, – feeling about it! On the other hand, the Venus/Pluto square has a deeply intense, sharp and potentially somewhat unfathomable quality to it.

The New Moon in Gemini

Like all New Moons this is a time to plant the seeds for new beginnings. The best time to do this is immediately after the New Moon is exact which is at 20.46 Irish Standard Time (GMT + 1) 15.46 EST. The core themes for this New Moon include: how we engage our mind, our patterns of communication, our relationships with our siblings, friendships, community networks, social media, bridging differences, learning and education…Where the seeding is likely to take place for each of us individually depends on where the New Moon lands in our natal chart.

Whilst new seeds are being planted in one side of the heavens, Venus is busy meeting Hades in another side! When Venus/Aphrodite journeys to these deeper realms of the underworld to meet with Hades in his natural home, she is forced to encounter and ultimately discover beauty in the shadow areas of life and relationships. This is not her natural realm, particularly when she is in the sign of Aries which she is currently traveling through right now; as Venus in Aries seeks to maintain a childlike innocence and naivety as long as possible! However, with this square, Venus can either descend voluntarily and face her shadow, or be ‘abducted’, as in the myth of Persephone. Either way, something previously unconscious and hence invisible, is likely to be revealed with this powerful transit. The general themes which we are all likely to be invited to consider to a greater or lesser extent include: self-value, being authentic, emotional and sexual intimacy, jealousy and envy, violation, resentments in relationships, authenticity in our relationships, addictions, passion…The exact nature of what this may be depends on the location of the transiting Venus/Pluto square in your natal chart as well as the nature of your natal Venus and Pluto.

Some questions to consider during this New Moon:

1. What value do I place on the relationships in my life?
2. What role do emotional and sexual intimacy play in my life?
3. Am I fully authentic to myself and to others?
4. Which new friendships are seeding?
5. Are there aspects of my relationships with my siblings that I would like to refresh?
6. Which thoughts and ideas are no longer valid for who I am today?

The Full Moon at 20’ Scorpio 24 on May 10th 2017 by Margaret Gray

“How does one become butterfly?’ Pooh asked pensively.
‘You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar,’ Piglet replied.
‘You mean to die?’ asked Pooh.
‘Yes and no,’ he answered. ‘What looks like you will die, but what’s really you will live on.”
― A.A. Milne

Key Planetary Energies today:

The energy of this very intense Full Moon in Scorpio is enhanced by the sextile to its ruler Pluto in Capricorn (1’ orb). Meanwhile the True Nodes have just changed from the Virgo/Pisces axis to the Leo/Aquarius axis, Mars in Gemini is exactly square Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Libra is quincunx Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius is finally moving away from the square to Chiron in Pisces (1’). Not forgetting of course that Mercury is still conjunct Uranus in Aries as well as trine Saturn in Sagittarius!

Some of the Core Themes of this Full Moon:

This intense Full Moon pulls us into the deep realms of our unconscious, as well as the collective unconscious. Its purpose is transformation, leading to completion and regeneration. The transformation is likely to occur in whichever areas of your life the Full Moon and transiting Pluto are traveling through right now in your chart! In the Scorpionic realms of this Full Moon the key themes of Passion and Power are likely to rise to the surface to be explored. Without self-empowerment there can be no real passion and without passion there is little incentive to become self-empowered! That is the conundrum at the heart of the Scorpionic energy!

Meanwhile, Mars the traditional ruler of Scorpio squares Neptune in Pisces encouraging us to activate our dreams. This is further enhanced by Jupiter aspecting Neptune.
The Mercury/Uranus conjunction coming to an end is likely to draw a sigh of relief from many of us as the energy has felt so jagged and anxiety provoking! However, the two planets are still in a close conjunction for another week. Using this energy to find ways to communicate honestly and directly can be helpful although it can be challenging to avoid being inadvertently abrasive at this time!

With the Nodal axis shifting into Leo/Aquarius, the themes of service versus sacrifice which we have been dealing with over the past 18 months will be replaced by self/individuality versus the group/collective. The pull and push between heart and mind are also likely to come to the fore with these two signs. This new axis is particularly important if you were born with the North/South Node in Leo/Aquarius or vice versa, as you will be prompted to let go of your South Node and move into your North Node energy.

This New Moon will particularly resonate if your Sun, Moon and/or angles are between 18’ and 22’ Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and/or Leo.

Some suggestions for this Full Moon:
1. Choose a creative art you enjoy – poetry, music, dance…and pick a piece that is brimming with passion to listen, read, play, dance to…
2. Do a drawing that describes the balance between your heart and mind – notice which one is bigger – no judgement!
3. Keep a note of your dreams for a few days – is there a common theme?
4. How awake is your passion right now? How might you best express it?
5. Where does this Full Moon land in your Birth Chart? What seeks to be transformed?

The New Moon at 6’ Taurus 27 on April 26th 2017 by Margaret Gray

‘At anytime you can decide to live a life that says ” I love myself” ‘
― Renae A. Sauter

Key Planetary Energies Today:

The only aspect to this New Moon is a trine to the North Node in Virgo/sextile the Sth Node in Pisces (5’ orb). However there are some other lingering aspects in the sky including Venus still within 2’ of Chiron in Pisces, as well as being within 2’ of the square to Saturn Rx in Sagittarius! The most powerful aspect right now however, is likely to be the conjunction between Mercury Rx and Uranus in Aries, which will be exact on Friday!

So how is all of this likely to affect us?

After a few weeks of intense and at times very uneasy planetary activity in the sky, this New Moon in the earthy sign of Taurus offers us a brief window of peaceful respite.

The essence of Taurus energy is about being grounded in the earthy material plane of the natural world. It thrives on security, stability, continuity, comfort and beauty. As one of the two rulers of Venus, Taurus is a very sensual sign, which at its best can help anchor us in our body and remind us of the rhythms of nature and the practical necessities of everyday life. Although Aphrodite enjoyed relationships, intense emotions were not her strongest suit. Similarly Taurus prefers to remain on the familiar plain of matter, rather than delve into the intangible depths of the underworld where the complexity of our shadow emotions lie. Yet, as with all signs, at some point there is a requirement to integrate the shadow aspect of the energies, which for Taurus lie in the opposite sign of Scorpio who naturally and comfortably inhabits the underworld of emotional complexity.

As this is a New Moon rather than a Full Moon, the emphasis is on the Taurean side of the Taurus/Scorpio axis. However, don’t be surprised if the new seeds that are planted in your life at this time may also include a Scorpio dimension, such as the passion of a new love encounter – particularly if this New Moon is in your 5th or 7th house! The trine to the North Node in Virgo has a somewhat fated quality about whatever is initiated at this time and hence it’s worth paying particular attention to it.

Ultimately the Taurean energies invite us to value ourselves for who we ‘are’ rather than ‘what’ we do so this New Moon encourages us to ‘be in the moment’ and value ourselves, as well as considering what is of value to us and why.

With the Mercury/Uranus conjunction on Friday, this aspect plays an important role particularly as its also trine Saturn in Sagittarius which is square Venus/Chiron in Pisces! With all of these planets between 25’ and 29’ this is a good time to clean out our closets of anything that is holding us back from moving forward in a new way when the planets change sign. With Venus the ruler of this New Moon just separating from Chiron, some of the clearing out may include unfinished past relationship aches that are holding us back from new relationship starts. Despite Mercury being retrograde, communication is likely to be very direct, particularly regarding issues that have been festering for a while. This can be very helpful, albeit a little shocking at times, as honesty is the only way forward.

This New Moon will particularly resonate if your Sun, Moon and/or angles are between 4’ and 7’ Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius and/or Leo.

Some suggestions for this New Moon:

  1. Spend some time outside in nature – particularly near trees and grass.
  2. Do something that is physically self-pampering – have a nice meal, relax in a candlelit bath, buy yourself a new gift, hold hands, kiss…
  3. Spend some time being still – even just 10 mins.
  4. Pay heed to any messages from your body – tiredness, stress, aches and pain…

“We are allowed to set in motion anything which we would be the happy recipient of!” – Caroline Casey NCGR Conference Keynote Speech Feb 2017

Wed Feb 22nd: Mars in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn
Sunday Feb 26th: Annular Solar Eclipse at 8’ Pisces 12 + Mars conjunct Uranus in Aries

Mars square Pluto at 18’ 37 Aries and Capricorn (conjunct Uranus in Aries 3’ orb and square Jupiter 4′ orb):
Mars in Aries has a natural impatience which is likely to be expressed as an immediate urgency to break down, change and transform any structures, borders, rules and limitations that are no longer authentic in our lives. The sense of urgency and impatience is likely to be experienced in the area of our birth chart that Mars is travelling through and the structures that are being challenged are related to the part of our chart that Pluto is in right now. (See the attached chart). There is likely to be a strong pull between doing what we want and finding a way to also have consideration of others. Best to keep as grounded and centered in ourselves as we can! This transit is intrinsically connected to what is happening on Sunday when Mars moves 3’ to form an exact conjunction with Uranus in Aries.

Sunday: Mars conjunct Uranus at 21’ Aries 59 (square Pluto in Capricorn 3’ orb, opposite Jupiter in Libra 1’ orb):
With Mars moving into an exact conjunction with Uranus the urgency to take action and create radical change right here and now escalates rapidly on a personal and collective level. Jupiter in Libra is the voice of balance reminding us that whatever action we take needs to be based on equality and fairness as well as a degree of compromise, as none of our actions occur in isolation. Meanwhile the trine to Saturn highlights the importance of checking the ‘beliefs’ that our actions are based on. However, as the skies are filled with watery Piscean energies today, it may be worth waiting until the Piscean fog lifts somewhat before making important life changing decisions.

Sunday: The Annular Solar Eclipse (New Moon) at 8’ Pisces 12:

As the Moon passes between the Earth and Sun today our ego is momentarily obscured by our emotions. With 4 planets in Pisces + Chiron and the South Node, the planetary energies are predominantly emotional as we swim in the oceanic depths of our feelings. Like all forms of water, Piscean energy ideally needs to flow. When it’s blocked, feelings tend to freeze and if uncontained they can flood! At it’s most expansive Pisces is about spiritual connection, imagination, unconditional love and compassion. At it’s most limited it can be about escapism, avoidance of responsibilities, commitment or accountability and/or being a martyr or victim. Pisces energy can create a hall of mirrors where we struggle to figure out what’s real and what is illusion, later resulting in an inevitable delusion.

The conjunction of the Eclipse to the South Node as well as to Neptune can indicate that issues related to past lifetimes may come to the surface at this time to be healed and released on a personal and collective level. It may be very helpful to pay particular notice to dreams this weekend and the people and situations you encounter. With only Pluto in an Earth sign, there is little grounding in the planetary energies so we need to provide it for ourselves through nature, exercise, visualizations…

Core themes to explore with this Pisces Eclipse:
1. Oneness and unconditional love – Who do you love unconditionally – including yourself? Who loved you unconditionally as a child?
2. Spirituality – What is your relationship with the ‘spiritual’ dimension of life? What helps you to connect with this level within yourself?
3. Creativity and Imagination – How do you express your creativity?
4. Feelings – What feelings do you struggle to express and what tools assist you to do so?
5. Addictions – What addictions mask your feelings? What feelings would come to the surface if you stopped all your addictions?

Dr. Bernadette Brady describes this Eclipse, which belongs to Saros Series 19 South, as follows:
“This is a family of Eclipses that brings with it the element of the pleasant surprise. Sudden happiness, a joyful event, the lucky break, the lucky win. The events which will be occurring can be believed and can positively change the person’s life.”
