Each of these stages presents its own challenges and gifts as they test the status  quo and open us to the possibility of growth and change.

Adolescence/Transition year: 

This is a an excellent time to explore further your potential talents and skills as you explore what it might be like to leave your school, your home and your tribe to take your place in the world. Information gives you choices.

 Your natal chart describes clearly:

• how you communicate and best express yourself
• what you enjoy and value, how you assert yourself  
• your talents and gifts
• the inner conflicts that you need to work with
• your parental dynamics, your relationship needs
• your ambitions
• your core vocation.

I can offer individual sessions with or without your career guidance teacher in school or at your home. I also offer basic workshops for groups of transition year students in the basics of astrology to enable you to understand your own chart. 

Late 20s - The Saturn Return

This is astrologically considered the formal entry into adulthood. In returning to its place of origin for the first time the planet Saturn has touched every part of your natal chart bringing it into your awareness. This is the time of separation from family of origin as you embark truly on your own journey of individuation. Often events manifest highlighting this time of transition - buying a house, changing a job or being promoted, having a child, getting married, moving abroad etc.

As with all life changes questions arise as to what is my purpose in life?  What gives me meaning.

An astrological consultation at this time can assist you to become more aware of your true skills and talents as well as the obstacles that may block you.

Midlife Transits

Starting with Transiting Pluto square natal Pluto in your late 30's (for current generations), these are the most challenging and potentially most life enhancing  life stage transits. This is due to the nature of the transiting planets as well as the duration of the transits which allow for little respite during this time. These transits challenge our deepest survival needs as well as our idealism and need for individual freedom and our met and unmet dreams. During this time we are faced with the changes brought about by age to our body and an increased awareness of the passing of time and our aging. The richness of this time comes in the questioning and exploration of what is truly authentic to us and how we might live this out in a fulfilling manner in the second half of our life. For parents this is often a time of change as adolescent children challenge our comfort zone. For those who have no children it can be the last opportunity to be a parent if a woman. Elderly parents may require more care and/or may pass away.

An astrological consultation at this time can assist you to understand the meaning of the transiting planets, the areas of your life which are being particularly affected,  the time span involved and how you might creatively engage with what is happening. It can also help you to unearth that which has been suppressed disowned or repressed over the years which has been yearning to come out. The potential for creativity is enormous at this time.

Age 51 - Chiron Return

In mythology Chiron was a Centaur who was known as "the wounded healer".  He was half human and half horse and was the foster son of Apollo the sun god. Chiron did not fit in with either the centaurs as he was educated and civilized or with the gods as he was half animal. Apollo taught him many of the arts and sciences and Chiron spent much of his time teaching the children of the gods who were often seen playing on his back. He was gifted and skilled in astronomy, astrology, mathematics, philosophy and healing. However, Hercules accidentally injured him in the thigh with a poisoned arrow. Unable to die Chiron eventually swapped places with Prometheus who was tied to a rock and his liver plucked out every night as a punishment for bringing fire to humans. This allowed him to die.

This myth is very pertinent to this time in life. Chiron in the chart denotes a place of wounding for all of us. The wounding is part of the collective we were born into and life the injury to Chiron in the myth - it is no ones fault. However, as with all wounds it hurts and at the return this wound is re-opened allowing some of the pain to be released. Our chironian wound requires understanding wisdom and compassion and these are most likely to take place at this stage in life. For some people who have Chiron in aspect to your sun or on an angle Chiron is likely to be your vocation. Hence the return may highlight your readiness to fully embark on this path if you have not done so already. For all of us it is a time when we can learn more fully how to use the pain of our wound to help others or we may feel so poisoned by the wound that we are unable to do so.

Early 60's

This is often the age of retirement in the west from paid employment particularly if one is working for someone else. For self employed people it may entail some changes or even an expansion. For those facing "retirement' there can be a sense of freedom together with a sense of loss or a sense of panic at the gap that the loss of work will bring. However, this is also an opportunity to follow one's heart and passion if one has not been able to do so in the past.

A consultation can assist you to assess what would bring your heart joy in the next phase of your life.

80's/90's - Freedom

This can be a stage of enormous freedom to be your true authentic self although there may be physical limitations that may feel frustrating.
