Brief Notes on the Full Moon in Scorpio on April 22nd + Venus Conjunct Uranus by Margaret Gray MSW D. Psych. Astrology

As if you were on fire from within.
The moon lives in the lining of your skin’

Key Planetary Energies today:

The only aspect to the Moon in Scorpio today, besides the opposition to the Sun in Taurus of course, is a Semi-square to Saturn in Sagittarius. However, most of the other planets in the sky are aspecting each other!

The most notable is the Venus/Uranus conjunction in Aries, which forms on the evening of the 22nd, as well as the Nodes at 21’ Virgo/Pisces + Mercury at 21’ Taurus trining the North Node. Chiron also continues to be within 2’ of the Pisces South Node. In addition, Saturn Rx which is conjunct Mars Rx in Sagittarius (within 7’), forms the apex of a TSquare to Jupiter Rx in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces. Plus Venus is still within orb of the square to Pluto at 17’ Capricorn!

So how is this likely to affect us!

This Full Moon invites us to journey inwards, to our deepest emotional depths so that we can access the amazing passion, inner resources and resilience that lie at the heart of the Moon in Scorpio at her best. To do so we have to be willing to take down the illusory protective walls of mistrust and detachment that most of us erect over time around our emotions in an effort to shield our heart. The more we can integrate the Taurean need for security with the Scorpionic need for depth, through grounding ourselves in our body, the deeper we can dive within, to discover our inner treasures.

Some helpful questions to ask ourselves include:

  • Where are we not loyal to our deepest emotions?
  • Where might we be betraying our heart to keep our ego happy?
  • What parts of ourselves have we cut off and with it sacrificed passion in our life?
  • What would it take for us to trust our emotions and to feel them fully?

With Venus conjunct Uranus in fiery Aries, our need for freedom and adventure may somewhat clash with the Taurean need for stability and the Scorpionic need for continuity. Hence, the key at this time is in finding ways to ideally transmute anxiety into excitement, as we juggle these powerful forces within and without!

Exercise can offer some helpful release to our nervous system and the visual arts including drawing, painting and photography can offer a containing medium to express our deeper feelings.

These energies are likely to resonate more with you if your Sun, Moon and/or angles are between 1′ and 4′ Scorpio and/or Taurus as well as between 19′ and 24′ Aries, Libra, Pisces, Virgo, Capricorn and/or Cancer.

In our Relationships:

As we are likely to feel everything to the extremes during this Full Moon in Scorpio there is a risk of confusing vulnerability with weakness. Yet, without vulnerability we cannot be truly intimate. As loyalty is a key theme for both the Moon in Scorpio and the Sun in Taurus, this is an ideal time to explore this subject in our own life and particularly in our relationships. What do loyalty and betrayal mean to each of us? What did they mean in our childhood? Where have we experienced either/both and where have we offered loyalty to others and/or betrayed them? What might it take for us to forgive everyone involved, including ourselves?

With Venus conjunct Uranus in Aries we may be tempted to abruptly cut off some of our relationship ties at this time in an effort to free ourselves from perceived limitations. freedom-17371-1920x1080However, it may behoof us to assess if this is based on impatience and inner frustration with ourselves and our own internalised restrictions, or if our soul contract is truly complete in these relationships. download (1)The further we are in our individuation process, the easier it will be to move into a new way of relating with everyone that is based on increased equality, fairness and individual freedom within the container of unconditional love and respect.

Several years ago a Kahuna in Hawaii said to me that after 2012 we would be divided into two sections as a collective. The section that sees the cup half full and the section that sees it as half empty. For a few years there would be a bridge between both sections so that the opportunity would be there for as many people as possible to move over to the ‘half full’ side. However, there would come a point when the bridge would no longer be there. We all have free will as to which side of the bridge we choose of course.

This full moon offers us as a collective the opportunity to take an honest look at what lies beneath the surface of our society and which direction we want to go in. As Marianne Williamson reminded us in a talk she gave recently here in Dublin, without facing our wounds we cannot move forward. This doesn’t mean that we need to wallow in them, but it does mean that we have to face our shadow honestly and without blame. This Full Moon supports us in this process with Mars and Saturn Retrograde in Sagittarius also helping us to face our inner truths.
