Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn/Sagittarius Dec 19th – January 7th 2017 – Margaret Gray

‘Why is patience so important?
Because it makes us pay attention.’ ― Paulo Coelho

When Hermes symbolically moves backwards in the sky, we are invited to re-visit core themes related to the area of our chart he is travelling through. This particular Retrograde in Capricorn starts within a degree of Pluto, suggesting that our collective and individual mental journey over the next few weeks is likely to be particularly depthful and transformative.

Questions that may be helpful during this journey include the following:
• What foundations are your core thought structures built on? Are they still relevant to who you are today? Are they helpful?
• Are all your communication patterns built on integrity and truth? If not – why not?

On January 5th Mercury moves right back into Sagittarius until Jan 13th when he returns to Capricorn. This offers us an opportunity to revisit any communication issues we may want to redress from earlier in the month – particularly Dec 6th and 7th 2016.

As always during Mercury Retrograde, it’s well worth paying particular attention to detail when dealing with contracts and communications! It’s a great time to edit articles and books! Not the ideal time to initiate new projects and best to back up data on all electronics! As the Retrograde is through an Earth sign, communication through writing can be easier than in person, as we can edit our thoughts and words. It also means that we have an accurate record of our communication! Patience is a great asset during this time!!

Not forgetting of course that Mars moves into Pisces on the 19th and will stay there until Jan 28th. The most expansive version of this is personal and collective action based on selfless compassion. The most limited version is chaos and escapism!
